TEER- Soaring up the sky!
Location Bangalore
Typology public
Size 1000 sqft
This iconic sculpture symbolizes national unity and aspiration, inspired by Meghalaya’s living root bridges. The intricate interweaving of branches reflects the confluence of diverse cultures forming a unified bud that rises skyward—representing a nation soaring toward infinite possibilities. A crown atop lighter members rests on branching supports, symbolizing strength in unity.
Crafted with modularity for ease of erection, the sculpture layers geometrically patterned members that draw from traditional art and cultural motifs. This spatial weaving offers a dual sensory experience: from afar, it captivates with visual intrigue; up close, it invites tactile interaction, revealing fine steel detailing, dynamic joinery, and reflective finishes. The infilled perforated sheets lend both perceived solidity and actual porosity, enhancing visual connectivity.
Structural System:
The conical superstructure ensures stability by evenly distributing loads through multiple branching members, allowing minimal member sizing. This dynamic form provides both structural efficiency and sculptural elegance.
The substructure features a unified raft foundation tailored to the site’s geological strata. Load transfers from the upper branches to RCC stubs clad in granite caps, anchoring the structure while celebrating its rootedness in the land.
Overall, the sculpture harmonizes cultural expression with engineering ingenuity, embodying strength through unity.
