Science Gallery Bangalore – Extension Proposal
Location IVRI Campus, Bengaluru
Typology Cultural/Institution
Size 36,000 sqft
The design proposal for the extension of Science Gallery Bangalore reimagines Phase 2 as the vibrant heart of the public realm, a dynamic space that encourages interaction and engagement. Emphasizing event-focused experiences, the extension seeks to establish a distinct identity through open, inclusive, and interconnected spaces.
A large podium structure forms the foundation of this vision, expanding public areas and integrating the site’s existing tree into a central courtyard. This court opens seamlessly into a café and a series of interactive spaces, creating a lively interface between the building and its visitors.
The gallery extension, located at the lower ground level, strengthens connectivity with the existing core, while the auditorium, elevated above the podium, defines a versatile event space beneath. Crowned by a sky lounge, the structure becomes a visual landmark, bridging the existing and future phases of the gallery and embodying the spirit of dialogue between science, art, and the public.
