One of the defining features of the site was the presence of existing coconut trees, which the client wanted to retain. Instead of removing them, the design was developed around them. The built form was chamfered and carved to accommodate the trees, helping preserve the natural character of the site while also shaping the building’s identity.
These chamfers created additional surface area for retail frontages, enhancing visibility and access for the commercial units. The result is a dynamic form that responds both to the trees and to pedestrian movement along the street.
This commercial complex was thoughtfully designed in close proximity to a medical college, with a primary focus on serving the day-to-day needs of students and healthcare professionals. The project provides accessible retail, food, and service outlets within walking distance, enhancing urban convenience for the surrounding academic and medical community.
