The Quiet Quarters
Location Bangalore
Typology Residential
Size 10,000sqft
Located on a quiet corner near a neighborhood school, this low-rise multi-family residence was designed to open up thoughtfully to its surroundings. The corner became a key point in the design, where shared spaces of each home gently connect to the street, fostering a sense of community while maintaining privacy.
Each unit is planned to respond to the neighborhood scale, with subtle transitions between public and private zones. Balconies and utility areas, though private, add layers of interaction—offering glimpses of daily life and creating a quiet, visual dialogue between the residents and the street.
These semi-open spaces not only bring in light and ventilation but also allow residents to feel part of the neighborhood, without the need for direct engagement. They soften the building’s edge and animate the façade with everyday use.
Brick was chosen as the primary material to bring warmth, a human scale, and a familiar sense of home. Its tactile quality and timeless appearance anchor the building within its residential context, creating a structure that feels enduring and approachable.
The design reflects a balanced way of living—calm, connected, and rooted in its setting.
