Contour house

Location Vagamon

Typology Residential

Size 1000 sqft

A structure shaped by the slope, open to the sky

Situated on the hills of Vagamon, Contour House is designed to respond to its landscape with quiet confidence. Rather than sit atop the hill, the building is partially nestled into the slope, allowing it to merge with its surroundings and offer uninterrupted views on all sides.

The roof, gently tapering upward toward the hill, frames the horizon while minimizing the building’s visual weight. This gesture not only anchors the structure to the site but enhances its spatial openness, drawing in natural light and distant vistas.

A distinct entry portal, sculpted with a subtle beak-like form, introduces the building’s geometric language. Large wooden doors with stained glass insets mark the transition into the interior—introducing texture, filtered light, and a sense of craft.

Throughout, stone, metal, and wood are employed in restrained combinations, chosen for their durability and timeless materiality. These elements work together to create a cohesive architectural language that feels grounded, open, and deeply connected to place.

Contour House is not just a home on a hill—it is a response to the terrain, a quiet frame for the landscape, and a reflection of the environment it inhabits.
